An editor you can work with and trust

Helen Falconer is a critically acclaimed author and editor who has been published by Faber & Faber and by Penguin-Random House. Her work has been translated into French, German and Italian.
Here's how Helen Falconer can help you
I have found that spoken conversation is the most fruitful way of working with a writer. Through dialogue, I can ensure that I’m helping you to find your authentic voice, rather than imposing my own viewpoint on your creative work.
You send me your manuscript, and I will read it three times – making notes each time in a different colour, so that you can see the way my opinion changes with each read.
Then we will talk for a few hours about how to make your work even better.
I love to meet my writers in person, but if you can’t make it to my remote cottage in the west of Ireland, then we can Skype instead. Workshops last between two and five hours, and can if necessary take place in two sessions.
I charge a flat rate of €1,000 for a structural edit.
If you have any questions after our conversation, you can email me for no extra charge.

AUTHORS’ TESTIMONIALS
JAX MILLER: Helen is truly one of the greatest editors I've worked with. She's thorough, she's brilliant, and I highly recommend her services to any writer (at any stage of their career) who wants to bring their book to its fullest potential.

ELLA GRIFFIN: Helen brought a brilliant editor's eye to an early and very lumpy draft of The Flower Arrangement. She work-shopped a structural overhaul that mapped out the way forward. Most importantly and unexpectedly, she
pointed out a missing link in my heroine's journey that was hiding in plain sight. I hugely enjoyed our work session over her dinner table and came away energised and excited. I can't recommend her highly enough.
JEAN GRAINGER: As an Indie author my books have been downloaded almost 500,000 times, I’ve won the Author’s Choice Best Historical Fiction 2016 and have over 1000 4 and 5 star reviews across a variety of online retailers.

Helen Falconer’s editorial input to each of my six books has proved to be the single most significant factor in their success. My books regularly reach the #1 spot on Amazon and I have recently sold translation and audio book rights.
KATE KERRIGAN: I engaged Helen to edit several of my books before taking them to my

publishing house editors – she is that good. As well as being an insightful, sensitive editor with good instincts and a natural understanding of structure and character, she is also a lovely person! I recommend her service unreservedly.
